Il cimitero della memoria

All those documents, papers and writings that appear around the central bodies belong to the time and coexistence that elapses between the moment I was invited to participate in this exhibition to the place where the work rests now. In that vital journey, which lasts several months, I gather letters, book sheets, manuscripts, thoughts, from people by my side during that journey, words and messages and smiles that I already gather into my being. Once these papers have been gathered, I mix them up and save them, I combine them with my own reflections, with daily visions, some of these papers are fragmented, and I place them next to the medullary mass. These papers main characteristic is that they are not treated to preserve them, hence, day after day, with the daily alternation of light and seasons, they deteriorate, oxidize, slowly decomposing into a future that we are already approaching, paradoxically, since the library also corrodes, although languidly, slowly, plunged into an enduring pause. The real goal is to reflect how the past and next languages and thoughts ​​dialogue together with the gone and coming times, a trip’s realisation that I know I will arrive sooner or later, but giving equal importance to the direction, departure and destination. The word and its memory. A term filled with air and rustiness, where the times will inevitably coincide.
